Worked on the microsoft/markitdown repository to enhance security governance by implementing ExifTool version enforcement. Developed a Python-based runtime check that requires ExifTool version 12.24 or higher, directly addressing vulnerabilities in image metadata processing and aligning with security compliance policies. The solution leverages Python scripting and subprocess management to verify tool versions before execution, reducing the risk of using outdated or insecure dependencies. This targeted feature was delivered in a single, traceable commit, strengthening external tooling governance and improving maintainability. No bugs were addressed during this period, with the primary focus on proactive risk mitigation through robust security compliance measures.
