Tamarm worked on the spotinst/openapi repository, focusing on enhancing GCP cluster and VNG provisioning by introducing a scalingOrientation parameter to support COST, AVAILABILITY, or BALANCED strategies. Using YAML for schema definition and leveraging skills in cloud computing and Kubernetes, Tamarm designed this feature to increase flexibility in node provisioning. However, after evaluating compatibility with existing Ocean GKE strategy schemas, Tamarm rolled back the changes to prevent schema drift and maintain system stability. This work demonstrated careful consideration of backward compatibility and provided valuable insights for future iterations on configuration management and safe rollout of new provisioning options.

February 2025 — Ocean provisioning exploration in spotinst/openapi focused on evaluating a new scalingOrientation parameter for GCP cluster and VNG configurations. The feature aimed to offer COST, AVAILABILITY, or BALANCED provisioning options to improve provisioning flexibility, but was rolled back to maintain compatibility with Ocean GKE strategy schemas. The changes were reverted in master to remove the scalingOrientation property from ocean-strategy.yaml and oceanLaunchSpecStrategy.yaml.
