Worked on the Shopify/nixpkgs repository to enhance the EDK2 package by introducing build type configurability. Addressed the limitation of a hardcoded build type by implementing a configurable 'build_type' attribute, allowing users to override defaults through package configuration. This change improved flexibility and reproducibility across different environments, making the build process more maintainable. The work involved end-to-end feature development using Nix, with a focus on build systems and package management. By removing hardcoded behavior and enabling environment-specific builds, the contribution streamlined the packaging workflow and supported more robust, adaptable deployment scenarios within the Nix ecosystem.
