During December 2025, Taariq contributed to the thinkst/canarytokens repository by expanding media handling and privacy controls. He implemented JPEG image upload support, updating backend logic and tests to ensure robust handling and correct MIME type detection. Taariq also introduced header-based crawler restrictions using X-Robots-Tag, blocking indexing of non-root pages by default while allowing explicit exceptions. These changes, developed primarily in Python and focused on API and web backend development, improved user experience by supporting broader image formats and enhanced privacy by simplifying site visibility management. The work demonstrated thoughtful integration of new features with comprehensive test coverage and clear business value.
