Contributed to the materialdigital/core-ontology repository by expanding and refining ontologies for materials, manufacturing processes, and industrial equipment over a two-month period. Focused on semantic clarity and interoperability, the work included harmonizing ID ranges, standardizing terminology, and introducing a structured deprecation framework to improve lifecycle governance. Leveraged YAML configuration, OWL, and Markdown to model data, document changes, and manage ontology evolution. Enhanced definitions for semiconductor materials, band gaps, composites, and material properties, while consolidating device and process representations. These efforts established a robust, well-documented foundation for cross-system data integration, analytics readiness, and improved onboarding of new datasets.
March 2026 monthly summary for materialdigital/core-ontology: Focused on advancing semantic clarity and interoperability by standardizing ontology terms across elements, composites, specification datum, and industrial equipment, and by consolidating definitions for optical properties, dispersion, and porosity. Expanded the ontology’s coverage to include key industrial devices (mould, load cell, drilling machine, furnace, tensile testing machine, stamping press, slide, TEM) and ensured consistent terminology across related processes. This work establishes a robust semantic foundation for cross-system data integration and analytics, reducing ambiguity for downstream consumers and accelerating onboarding of new datasets.
