Worked on enhancing the GoogleCloudPlatform-_-generative-ai repository by upgrading the Finvest Spanner demo to leverage the latest Vertex AI text-embedding-005 model. This involved updating both the SQL schema and Markdown documentation to reference the new embedding endpoint, ensuring the demo remains aligned with current Vertex AI capabilities. The approach prioritized maintainability by reducing future technical drift and simplifying ongoing updates. By improving documentation and schema consistency, the work supported smoother onboarding and reproducibility for future contributors. The project utilized Spanner and Vertex AI, with changes applied through a focused feature commit, reflecting a methodical and business-oriented engineering process.
