Worked on the istio/istio repository to enhance the reliability of traffic warmup configuration by addressing a validation issue in the warmup aggression logic. Focused on backend development using Go and YAML, the work involved updating the validation to accept any positive aggression value, aligning with recent Envoy and Istio API changes. This adjustment prevented valid configurations from being incorrectly rejected, reducing deployment misconfigurations and improving operator experience. The contribution included a detailed release note explaining the rationale behind the change and involved cleanup of erroneous test data, ultimately supporting more stable and predictable traffic ramp-up during service deployments.
