Worked on the istio/istio repository to deliver the IstioOperator Autoscaling-Driven PDB Rendering feature, which improves deployment reliability by aligning Kubernetes Horizontal Pod Autoscaler (HPA) settings with Helm template values. This approach enabled automated translation of HPA minimum and maximum replica configurations into Helm values, ensuring that PodDisruptionBudgets (PDBs) are generated correctly for Istio deployments, including pilot and istiod components. Developed comprehensive test coverage with golden outputs to validate PDB rendering across components, reducing risks during upgrades and scaling events. The work was implemented using Go, Helm, and Kubernetes, focusing on robust integration between autoscaling and deployment safety.
