Worked on improving BMC connection reliability in the theforeman/foreman repository by updating backend logic to prioritize host IP addresses over FQDNs when both are available. This change addressed DNS-related failures and ensured more stable connections for systems with multiple configuration options. The approach involved modifying Ruby backend code and expanding automated tests to cover new edge cases, particularly those involving DNS resolution. By aligning the fix with ongoing discussions and previous pull requests, compatibility with existing workflows was maintained. The work demonstrated skills in API development, backend development, and testing, resulting in measurable reliability improvements for BMC connections.
