Worked on the google/adk-python repository to address a critical stability issue in VertexAiMemoryBankService by enhancing the search_memory method with robust error handling. The solution involved implementing per-entry skipping and logging for malformed data, as well as iterator-level fallbacks to preserve partial results during API streaming failures. Edge-case guards were added to handle scenarios such as missing or empty memory and update_time fields, preventing crashes and reducing downtime. Expanded unit test coverage ensured reliability across various failure modes. Demonstrated strong backend development skills using Python, with a focus on error handling, unit testing, and collaborative pull request workflows.
Month 2026-06 monthly summary for developer performance review focusing on delivered features, bug fixes, impact, and skills demonstrated. In google/adk-python, fixed a critical stability issue in VertexAiMemoryBankService by adding robust error handling in search_memory to prevent crashes from malformed entries, along with edge-case guards and expanded tests. This work improved reliability of memory search under Vertex AI API streaming, preserving collected results during partial failures and reducing downtime.
