Developed and delivered audio notification support for SmartThings media players within the mib1185/homeassistant-core repository, focusing on backend integration and audio processing. The work involved implementing PCM audio transcoding to ensure reliable playback across a range of devices, as well as managing configurable audio notification URLs for flexible source selection. Using Python and leveraging API development skills, the solution improved interoperability between SmartThings and Home Assistant by enabling consistent media event alerts. The feature reduced playback failures by standardizing audio formats and allowed for easier updates to notification sources, enhancing user visibility into media events without introducing new bugs during the period.
