Worked on the kamailio/kamailio repository to enhance real-time media session handling by both stabilizing existing RTP/SDP processing and expanding RTP engine capabilities. Addressed a critical bug in the rtp_media_server module by ensuring the PayloadType handler always returns a valid pointer, preventing null dereferences and improving system reliability. Later, implemented a direct media connect feature in the RTP engine, allowing two call parties to establish media paths without a full offer/answer exchange, thereby reducing signaling overhead. All work was carried out in C, leveraging expertise in network programming, SIP protocol handling, and SDP parsing within a production-grade codebase.
November 2025: Delivered a targeted enhancement to the RTP engine in kamailio/kamailio by introducing direct media connect capability, improving media path efficiency and reducing signaling overhead.
