During this period, work focused on enhancing the uutils/coreutils and uutils/coreutils-l10n repositories using Rust, with an emphasis on system programming and localization. A new dir command was introduced to coreutils, replacing previous ls references and including updated help text, usage instructions, and tests to ensure correct display and localization in both English and French. Localization coverage was expanded by delivering complete Simplified Chinese translations for stdbuf and factor, ensuring all user-facing strings were covered. Additionally, mkfifo robustness was improved by validating permission bits and preventing permission changes on failure, increasing reliability and consistency across command line utilities.
