During March 2026, Sedate Staples contributed to the MoviePilot repository by developing a plugin-first media recognition feature that prioritizes plugin-based identification when configured, enhancing both accuracy and reliability in media processing. Sedate refactored the codebase to encapsulate duplicated media recognition mode selection logic into a reusable selector function, improving maintainability across recognition and download modules. Additionally, Sedate addressed asynchronous programming issues by correcting missing await usage in Python’s async calls, ensuring reliable execution and preventing unhandled promises. This work leveraged Python, FastAPI, and backend development skills, resulting in streamlined plugin adoption and reduced maintenance overhead for future development.
