Worked on enhancing the security of the actualbudget/actual desktop application by implementing a Secure App Protocol and enabling end-to-end encryption for budget files. Addressed a cryptography-related issue by marking the application protocol as secure, thereby reducing the risk of data exposure and strengthening user data protection. Utilized TypeScript for development and focused on desktop application security enhancements, coordinating automated fixes through continuous integration workflows. Prepared comprehensive release notes to support upcoming versions and collaborated across teams to document security improvements. The work delivered a robust encryption solution for budget files, improving the overall security posture of the desktop budgeting application.
