In April 2025, Xin Chen enhanced the live translation user experience for the renovate-bot/GoogleCloudPlatform-_-generative-ai repository by upgrading the audio recording workflow. Xin replaced a custom audio recording pipeline with Streamlit’s built-in st.audio_input(), allowing users to record audio of any length and eliminating the need for custom byte-conversion logic. This change simplified the codebase, reduced ongoing maintenance, and clarified ownership of the audio workflow. Working primarily in Python and leveraging skills in Google Generative AI and Text-to-Speech, Xin delivered a more scalable and maintainable solution that improved both developer iteration speed and end-user experience for live translation.
