Xuebao Zhao developed and stabilized Cloud SQL Managed Connection Pooling features in the GoogleCloudPlatform/magic-modules repository, enabling users to configure and manage connection pooling for Cloud SQL instances. Using Go and Terraform, Xuebao implemented schema definitions, expansion and flattening logic, and feature flag wiring to support connection_pool_config, along with comprehensive integration tests. In addition to building out these features, Xuebao addressed a critical bug that prevented API acceptance of MCP-enabled SQL instances and contributed practical configuration examples and documentation in terraform-google-modules/terraform-docs-samples. This work deepened Cloud SQL’s infrastructure-as-code capabilities and improved deployment reliability for operators.

June 2025 focused on stabilizing Cloud SQL Managed Connection Pooling (MCP) and accelerating customer adoption: implemented a critical bug fix for MCP-enabled SQL instances, delivered hands-on MCP configuration examples for MySQL and PostgreSQL, and enhanced tests and documentation to support reliable deployments.
