Yann Bedfer developed advanced 2D-strip readout and digitization features for CyMBaL and Outer Barrel MPGD detectors in the eic/epic and eic/EICrecon repositories, using C++ and CMake. He implemented UV segmentation and updated sensor numbering to support new detector geometries, ensuring all changes were additive and backward compatible. In simulation, he introduced a reversible 2D-strip digitization path, allowing flexible transitions between pixel and strip readouts. Later, Yann stabilized MPGD data paths by restoring event header ingestion in eic/EICrecon, enhancing reliability for detector configuration and analytics. His work demonstrated depth in data digitization, detector simulation, and embedded systems integration.

August 2025 Monthly Summary for developer work in eic/EICrecon. Focused on stabilizing MPGD data paths and event header ingestion to ensure reliable MPGD detector configurations and data analytics readiness.

January 2025: Delivered end-to-end 2D-strip readout enhancements for CyMBaL and Outer Barrel MPGD detectors in both data acquisition (eic/epic) and simulation (eic/EICrecon) stacks. Implemented 2D-strip readout with UV segmentation for Outer Barrel; updated sensor numbering and module naming to support the new segmentation scheme; changes are additive and do not alter default behavior or require user code changes. Introduced a reversible 2D-strip digitization path in simulations, moving from pixel-only readout to a detailed 2D-strip readout with an option to revert to pixel readout; added new C++ sources, and updates to build and detector configurations. All changes are additive and preserve backward compatibility.
