Worked on the kubernetes/kops repository to address network stability issues related to cloud-init network hotplug handling on Ubuntu 24.04, specifically for clusters using Cilium and Amazon VPC CNI. Developed and committed a fix in Go that disables cloud-init network hotplug by introducing a configuration file, ensuring that netplan does not reconfigure interfaces during hotplug events. This approach preserved BPF masquerade and routing when secondary ENIs were dynamically attached, reducing network outages and simplifying post-deployment troubleshooting. Validated the solution within Kubernetes kOps workflows, leveraging expertise in Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, and networking to improve production cluster reliability and maintainability.
