During September 2025, Hummer focused on enhancing build system compatibility within the androidx/androidx repository by addressing Android Gradle Plugin migration needs. Hummer updated multiple test application build scripts, replacing deprecated excludes and includes with the new filter.excludes and filter.includes syntax to ensure forward-compatibility with upcoming AGP versions. This work involved careful analysis and modification of Gradle-based configurations, eliminating build-time deprecations and reducing future maintenance overhead. Leveraging expertise in Android development and build system configuration, Hummer’s targeted bug fix improved repository consistency and maintainability. The changes, implemented in Gradle, addressed evolving platform requirements and streamlined the build process for future updates.
