Wiendra expanded the iiasa/message-ix-models repository by integrating Direct Air Capture (DAC) technology into its energy cost projection tool. This work involved developing new data files in CSV format, updating existing mappings, and defining base cost parameters and reduction trajectories for DAC, allowing for consistent scenario analysis alongside other decarbonization technologies. Using Python for data engineering and cost modeling, Wiendra ensured that DAC could be evaluated as a viable option in energy systems analysis. The implementation emphasized traceability and reproducibility, enabling richer decision support for decarbonization strategies. The work demonstrated focused depth in modeling and technical integration within the project.
