
Zhitong Yan contributed to the awslabs/aws-athena-query-federation repository by building and refining features that enhance federated query capabilities and backend reliability. Over five months, Zhitong delivered Substrait federation plan query support, integrated Substrait-based query federation for JDBC connectors, and refactored Substrait-to-Calcite integration to improve SQL parameterization and type resolution. Using Java, JDBC, and AWS SDK, Zhitong also enforced DynamoDB pagination limits and fixed schema inconsistencies for partitioned tables, addressing reliability and performance concerns.
