During October 2025, Zhong contributed to the cashapp/misk repository by implementing Blocking List Pop (BLPOP) support in the Redis module. This feature enables multi-key blocking pops with configurable timeouts, enhancing real-time task processing and reducing latency for consumer workflows. Zhong defined new APIs and developed comprehensive tests to validate asynchronous list operations and ensure seamless integration across distributed components. The work leveraged backend development expertise, particularly in distributed systems and Redis, using both Java and Kotlin. Although no bugs were fixed during this period, the depth of the feature’s design and validation reflects a strong focus on robust, maintainable engineering.
