Worked on enhancing the discourse/discourse repository by updating the XenForo importer to improve data fidelity during migrations. Addressed schema changes in XenForo by modifying the importer to use the new reactions table and its columns, replacing outdated references to the likes table. This adjustment ensured accurate import of user reactions and reduced migration errors for sites transitioning to the new platform. The work involved database migration, scripting in Ruby, and careful SQL/schema alignment. Utilized Git-based change management and targeted testing to validate the importer’s behavior, focusing on maintaining data integrity throughout the migration process without introducing new features.
