Worked on enhancing network observability in the DataDog/agent-payload repository by developing a feature for comprehensive Public IP metadata collection within CollectorConnections. Leveraged Go and Protocol Buffers to introduce a new resolvedPublicIps field and design the PublicIpMetadata model, capturing details such as IP address, cloud provider, region, and tags. This data modeling approach enabled richer analytics and downstream reporting for public network connections, supporting improved visibility and incident response. The work focused on expanding the metadata available for network connections, laying the groundwork for more granular monitoring and analysis without addressing bug fixes during the development period.
