Contributed to the FRC5188/ReefCode repository by developing and enhancing core robotic subsystems over a two-month period. Focused on arm control and elevator automation, this work introduced new command-based features in Java to improve mechanism reliability, calibration efficiency, and operator throughput. Implemented coordinated scoring sequences and automated calibration routines, leveraging subsystem integration and state management to enable faster, more deterministic robot behavior. Refactored control loops using ProfiledPIDController and added hardware IO abstractions for safer, repeatable deployment. The engineering approach emphasized modular robot programming and system identification, resulting in reduced manual tuning and streamlined in-match setup for critical mechanisms.
February 2025 — ReefCode development delivered two core features to improve scoring reliability and automated calibration, enabling faster cycles and more deterministic mechanism behavior. Implemented end-to-end scoring sequence via scoreGamepieceAtPosition with arm/elevator coordination and a safe stow return, plus system identification and automated calibration routines for arm/elevator accessible via RobotContainer. Included helper commands to wait for setpoints to improve sequencing robustness.
