
Over a two-month period, contributed backend features to the Gopher-Industries/SecureShift repository, focusing on scheduling and shift management. Developed a user availability management system using Node.js, Express.js, and Mongoose, enabling users to set their available days and time slots while allowing administrators to manage availability across the organization. Designed RESTful APIs with a clear separation between models, controllers, and routes to support future automation. Subsequently, implemented a shift history retrieval feature, introducing a role-based API for guards and employers to access completed shifts. Enhanced the Shift model with a compound index to optimize historical queries and support data scalability.
