Worked on enhancing observability in the kamailio/kamailio repository by implementing customizable Prometheus metrics for Kamailio deployments. Developed a new xhttp_prom_tags parameter within the xhttp_prom module, allowing users to attach custom tags and labels to exported Prometheus metrics. This addition provided greater flexibility and granularity in monitoring, enabling more detailed operational insights without disrupting existing integrations. The work focused on system programming in C and leveraged expertise in monitoring and Prometheus to maintain backward compatibility. The feature addressed the need for finer-grained metric reporting, supporting improved monitoring strategies for complex deployments while aligning with established Prometheus practices.
