Worked on the aws/aws-sam-cli repository to enhance the accuracy of API Gateway event timestamps, addressing a key issue affecting downstream analytics and billing systems. Implemented a fix by leveraging Python’s time_ns() function and converting the result to milliseconds, ensuring millisecond-precision for the requestTimeEpoch field. This backend development effort improved the reliability and observability of timing data, which is critical for precise analytics and billing calculations. Focused on API development and backend reliability, the work involved identifying and resolving a timing bug rather than adding new features, demonstrating attention to detail and a methodical approach to improving core infrastructure.
