
Developed and integrated the GEO extension for the OpenRefine/OpenRefine repository, enabling advanced geospatial functions within the data cleaning platform. This work introduced two new Java-based features: decToGMS, which converts decimal degrees to degrees-minutes-seconds, and geoDistance, which calculates great-circle distances between coordinates. The integration addressed issue #6570 by incorporating external geographic capabilities, expanding the platform’s support for geospatial analysis and plugin development. By enhancing data transformation workflows with geographic awareness, the contribution laid the groundwork for more robust geospatial data processing. The implementation focused on seamless plugin integration and precise geospatial computation within the existing OpenRefine architecture.
