During November 2024, contributed to the grafana/prometheus repository by developing a configurable compaction delay flag for the time-series database backend. This feature introduced a hidden flag that allows operators to tune the maximum delay percentage for data compaction, providing greater flexibility during production maintenance windows without altering the user interface. The implementation focused on backend development using Go, leveraging feature flag design and database management principles to enhance operational control over compaction timing. No major bugs were addressed during this period, with efforts concentrated on upstream contribution and improving the reliability and maintainability of compaction processes in production environments.
