Developed a targeted feature for the prometheus/snmp_exporter repository, enhancing its configuration generator to support module-prefixed labels within generator.yml files. This approach enabled clear disambiguation of SNMP MIB-module labels, such as IF-MIB::ifName, improving metric accuracy and reducing label collisions in multi-MIB monitoring environments. The work involved Go development and YAML-driven configuration management, with careful attention to validation, documentation, and pull request review. By introducing module-prefix strategies, the solution increased data quality for monitoring dashboards and streamlined SNMP metric collection. The contribution demonstrated a focused, maintainable engineering approach, addressing a nuanced challenge in SNMP exporter configuration and metric clarity.
