During December 2024, Boxia enhanced the helix-editor/helix repository by implementing per-state bufferline highlighting for the flexoki_light theme. This work focused on improving buffer visibility and user experience by defining distinct colors for active and inactive buffers within the TOML theme configuration. Boxia’s approach isolated all changes to the configuration layer, minimizing deployment risk and simplifying future maintenance. By leveraging skills in configuration management, theming, and Git, Boxia addressed usability concerns and aligned the theme with established design guidelines. The depth of the work lay in its targeted scope, delivering a focused feature that improved visual clarity without introducing instability.
