Chris stabilized self-healing rebuilds in the daos-stack/daos repository by delivering a targeted fix for delay_rebuild correctness, addressing complex exclusion scenarios in distributed systems. Working primarily in C, Chris improved error handling and configuration management by refining the rebuild logic to ensure delays were applied only when appropriate, which reduced unnecessary rebuilds and improved system robustness. The update also minimized verbose logging during shard update failures, resulting in clearer diagnostics and easier maintenance. This work demonstrated careful debugging and code maintenance, with changes committed in a traceable manner to support future audits and cross-team collaboration within the DAOS codebase.
