Worked on the awslabs/iot-app-kit repository to enhance the stability of error handling within the library, focusing on preventing application crashes when error metadata is missing. Addressed a specific bug by implementing an optional check for the httpStatusCode property, ensuring the error path degrades gracefully if the $metadata object is absent. This approach improved the robustness of API integration and error handling, using TypeScript to deliver targeted changes with minimal impact on the existing codebase. The solution was validated through targeted tests and code review, reducing the risk of production crashes and laying the foundation for safer error management practices.
