In October 2024, Emily Dode delivered a UI design system alignment for the Scene Hierarchy component in the awslabs/iot-app-kit repository. She refactored the component’s styling using SCSS and TypeScript, integrating AWS UI design tokens to ensure visual consistency and maintainability. Her work included updating color palettes and interactive states, establishing a design-token-driven foundation for future theming. By cleaning up and stabilizing the UI, Emily reduced visual drift and improved code structure, making future iterations and onboarding more straightforward. This focused, foundational work enhanced the scalability and collaborative potential of the app-kit’s front end without introducing new bugs.
