During October 2025, Chris Fitch enhanced the ossf/malicious-packages repository by optimizing the data ingestion pipeline to improve vulnerability data freshness and reliability. He restructured the ingest scheduling, configuring cloud ingestion to run every 30 minutes and GHSA ingestion hourly, while refining the data fetch window to cover the last 24 hours. This approach reduced latency and ensured security teams received timely updates. Chris applied his expertise in CI/CD, workflow automation, and scripting, primarily using Python and YAML to implement and document these changes. The work demonstrated a focused, incremental improvement to ETL scheduling and cloud data orchestration within the project.
