Contributed targeted improvements to the spring-boot repository, focusing on enhancing compatibility and security within the Spring Framework ecosystem. Addressed dependency management by aligning the protoc version in the Protobuf plugin with protobuf-java, which streamlined the dependency graph and ensured consistency with gRPC server usage. Additionally, implemented canonical path checks during layer extraction to prevent invalid directory access, thereby mitigating security risks and preserving extraction integrity. These changes were developed using Java, Gradle, and Protobuf, with a strong emphasis on unit testing to ensure reliability. The work delivered both a new feature and a bug fix within a single month’s timeframe.
