During June 2025, Fernando Molina focused on enhancing backward compatibility in the openconfig/featureprofiles repository by addressing a static LSP next-hop OpenConfig path issue. He implemented a conditional test deviation that applies an older OpenConfig path only when device capabilities require it, ensuring continued support for devices lacking the newer path. This approach, developed in Go and leveraging skills in network automation, OpenConfig, and gRPC, reduced the risk of regressions on modern devices while preserving interoperability. Fernando’s work improved traceability by documenting the change and linking it to relevant issues, ultimately minimizing configuration errors and supporting smoother network modernization efforts.
