Worked on the ministryofjustice/laa-data-claims-api repository to enhance observability and production readiness by implementing ECS structured logging. Developed a unified logging configuration that outputs ECS-compliant logs in production environments while maintaining human-readable logs for local development, facilitating improved monitoring, debugging, and traceability across deployment stages. The solution was built using Spring Boot and Java, with YAML for configuration management. Validation included comprehensive unit and end-to-end tests to ensure log pipeline integrity. The approach emphasized code quality, clean diffs, and thorough documentation, resulting in faster incident triage and improved auditing capabilities without introducing any new bugs during the release.
