
During November 2024, Griffin Ciluffo developed a Folksonomy Tagging System for the openfoodfacts/smooth-app repository, enabling users to enrich product data by adding, editing, and removing key-value tags directly from the product details page. Griffin implemented a full CRUD workflow with a modal interface, integrated internationalization support, and provided a developer option to toggle the feature’s visibility. The solution was built using Flutter and Dart, leveraging API integration and UI/UX design principles to ensure consistency and accessibility. This work addressed the need for scalable, user-driven data enrichment, improving search relevance and engagement while maintaining maintainable, deployment-ready code.
