Worked on enhancing the reliability of Kafka Tiered Storage quota metrics within the m1a2st/kafka repository, focusing on backend development using Java and Kafka. Addressed a critical issue where metrics for throttled states were inaccurately reported when sensors became inactive, which impacted telemetry for remote fetch and copy operations. The solution involved delegating the responsibility of refreshing inactive sensors to the SensorAccess class, ensuring more accurate and reliable metrics tracking. This targeted bug fix improved the accuracy of quota metrics reporting, contributing to better observability and operational stability for distributed storage systems relying on Kafka’s tiered storage architecture.
