During March 2026, Quang Ngo enhanced observability for Velero backups in the vmware-tanzu/velero repository by developing a Prometheus-based backup scheduling monitor with dynamic alerting capabilities. He implemented a new gauge metric in Go to measure the interval between scheduled backups and introduced support for per-schedule alerting thresholds, allowing for more granular and proactive monitoring. This work focused on improving reliability by reducing the risk of unnoticed schedule drift and enabling faster detection of backup issues. Quang also managed changelog updates in Markdown, demonstrating depth in backend development, instrumentation, and documentation while delivering tangible improvements to backup monitoring workflows.
