During February 2025, contributed to the Skyscanner/backpack repository by focusing on frontend performance optimization for the BpkMobileScrollContainer component. Developed and integrated a debounced window resize handler using JavaScript and TypeScript, targeting more efficient recalculation of height and scroll indicators during window resizing events. This approach reduced redundant computations, resulting in smoother user interactions and lower CPU usage when resizing the browser window. The work demonstrated a strong emphasis on component optimization and React best practices, delivering measurable improvements in rendering efficiency and device resource utilization without introducing new bugs, and enhancing the overall user experience for the Backpack project.
