Worked on the Fmstrat/esphome repository to enhance firmware update reliability by developing an update availability notification feature for the http_request_update component. This addition enabled the system to detect and alert users when a new firmware version became available, streamlining the update workflow. The technical approach involved refactoring error handling to defer execution to the main loop, effectively preventing race conditions and improving overall system stability. Leveraging expertise in C++, embedded systems, and firmware development, the work focused on robust notification mechanisms and reliable update processes. No bugs were fixed during this period, with efforts concentrated on feature implementation and workflow improvements.
