Worked on the nextflow-io/nextflow repository to deliver an auto-labeling feature for the Seqera executor, enabling cost reporting and aggregation of Scheduler-backed runs. The implementation introduced workspaceId and computeEnvId as automatic labels, integrating them into the run creation flow and ensuring accurate emission of platform-specific metadata. Leveraged Groovy for backend development and API integration, with a focus on maintaining cohesive unit tests and aligning them with the updated labeling logic. The codebase was refactored to streamline the labeling process, removing redundant paths and simplifying test coverage, ultimately improving cost attribution and operational insights for workflow execution environments.

April 2026 monthly summary for nextflow-io/nextflow: Delivered the Seqera executor auto-labeling feature to enable cost reporting and Scheduler-backed run aggregation. Implemented workspaceId and computeEnvId as auto labels, integrated them into the run-creation flow (seqera.executor.autoLabels) and ensured proper emission of platform labels (seqera.io/platform/workspaceId and seqera.io/platform/computeEnvId) sourced from Tower PlatformHelper with a fallback to computeEnvId. Refactored labeling flow by removing the separate Labels.withPlatformContext path and aligned unit tests accordingly, including simplifications to focus on the new behavior. Tests and code changes were kept cohesive with the existing metadata handling (withWorkflowMetadata) and did not introduce unrelated changes. This work improves cost attribution by Platform workspace and compute environment, enabling better cost visibility and operational insights for Scheduler-backed workflows.
