In November 2024, Jay Pradhan developed a Media Streaming Video Telemetry Entity within the newrelic/entity-definitions repository to enhance tracking and management of video streaming data on the New Relic platform. Leveraging YAML for entity definition and data modeling, Jay introduced telemetry rules and implemented a default 8-day data expiration, optimizing both data retention and storage costs. This work focused on strengthening data governance and observability for media streaming workloads by providing a dedicated entity type. The feature addressed the need for more granular telemetry management, reflecting a focused and well-scoped engineering effort in entity definition and data lifecycle optimization.
