Worked on the confluentinc/kafka-rest repository to deliver a robust batch multi-topic configuration alteration API, enabling atomic configuration changes across multiple Kafka topics through a new REST endpoint. Focused on backend development using Java and Kafka, the implementation included a dry-run validation mode to safely preview changes, centralized and refactored batch configuration logic for improved maintainability, and introduced structured per-topic error reporting with support for partial failures. Comprehensive unit and integration tests were added to ensure reliability across various scenarios, including validation-only and non-existent topics, resulting in a maintainable and reliable solution for managing Kafka topic configurations at scale.
