During March 2026, Malainine Limame developed Lambda Expressions Support for the substrait-io/substrait-java repository, enabling users to define and use inline lambda functions within Substrait expressions. This work introduced a new LambdaBuilder and required updates to existing interfaces and classes, focusing on API design and the builder pattern to enhance expressiveness and reduce boilerplate in analytics pipelines. Leveraging Java and functional programming principles, Malainine’s contribution allowed for more complex analytics and easier downstream integration. The feature was delivered incrementally, reflecting a focused engineering effort with depth in both language features and software development best practices. No bugs were fixed.
