During October 2024, Maekke upgraded the Hugin package in the winterheart/gentoo repository to the 2024.0rc1 release candidate, focusing on build systems and package management using Ebuild. The work involved updating the package manifest and ebuild scripts, as well as modifying dependencies to add TIFF support for the vigra library, ensuring compatibility with upstream changes. By addressing these requirements, Maekke improved build reliability and maintained a smooth upgrade path for Gentoo users. The changes were captured in a dedicated commit, reflecting a targeted and technically sound approach to package maintenance within the Gentoo ecosystem over the course of the month.
